Before you know it, people will be returning from Brazil with so many memories about their great trip. Tourists will be able to understand all about sustainable tourism and will get valuable information about how to be conscientious about consumption and how doing that will help you impact the preservation of the wildlife and nature in the area.

The Ministries of Environment and Tourism have launched a Greenport campaign. This is slated to happen during the hosting of the 2014 World Cup, and will happen in the 12 host cities of this soccer tournament. This is a time when a ton of people are visiting this area of Brazil and it is something that is great for them to be aware of and to learn all about.

With the Greenport campaign, they follow the motto, “Green Passport, Sustainable Tourism for a Loving Planet”. This is an appeal to help practice environmental citizenship and to be a good person for the environment. This helps tourists see that for even them they can help the cities that they are visiting by understanding their roles and understanding how they can contribute to the environment.

The campaign has been designed to teach visitors how they can have a great vacation in this area without actually doing any damage to the environment or neglecting it either. This is an initiative that has actually already started and was started in 2010 in Paraty, which is a historic city that is located on the southern coast of Rio de Janerio. They chose Paraty as a pilot city because it is very rich in history, culture, and natural heritage, and this is a huge part of this community. Many people visit Paraty and it is a great thing to check out.

Tourists are given guidance from the travel agents they work with, from information centers, and pamphlets. The tips that they are given can be as little as putting your garbage in the proper receptacles. This campaign pushes tourists to actually contribute to the economy that they are visiting by truly understanding it.

In Paraty, they are also taking part in the Sustainable Gastronomy program, which focuses on the food that are served. In doing this, a visitor has access to a better meal that is healthier and that is fresher. The produce that is used is going to be fresh and delivered from a local farm instead of being shipped from city to city. They work to use items that are in season and they are working to use organic items also so that the environment is being protected the best it can be.

The officials in Paraty Brazil held workshops and classes that were focused on this type of education so that they could get the city ready for this. In the same time, the city learned new habits, like doing things like collecting kitchen oil, which causes some major pollution risk to groundwater. In doing this, they are protecting the city in a very simple manner that is going to make it really easy for you to get just what you need.

Doing things like basic sanitation and teaching the citizens what to do is just part of this movement. More importantly, this is a great idea for tourism and is a great idea to get you a great vacation experience. Look into the choices that you have, get a great trip planned out, and stay on top of this movement that Brazil is looking into so that you can have a vacation where you are doing good for the environment and you can really learn about what they are working towards and the goals to make tourism better.
