Brazilian economy expected to receive major boost by hosting World Cup 2014

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Brazil will welcome about 600,000 tourists for the World Cup in 2014, which also will create 330,000 jobs, according to Alcino Rocha, the ministry of sport's special assessor of soccer. The government's study also claims the country will invest R$11.5 billion (US$6.5 billion) in modernizing urban areas and stadiums, of which R$7.7 billion (US$4.34 billion) will be publically financed, Rocha said. "The modernization of the Brazilian harbors will get R$700 million (US$395.1 million) in resources and the 14 airports of the host cities will get R$4.8 billion (US$2.7 billion) for modernization and enlargement," he said
