SAN JOSÉ, Costa Rica - About 150 truckloads carrying products made in Costa Rica were denied entry into Nicaragua after the country banned goods made by its southern neighbor, according to Vinicio Ruiz, Costa Rica's exterior commerce minister. "Nicaragua [has taken] a unilateral measure" to refuse the entrance of all products made in Costa Rica, Ruiz said at a press conference. "We have been in contact with the Nicaraguan authorities. I am going to talk with Nicaraguan Commerce Minister Orlando Solórzano." Ruiz said his country may plead its case to the Central American Economic Integration System (SIECA), which handles disputes between member nations. "In Costa Rica there are three seasons: rains, drought and problems with Nicaragua, so we are going to see what is going on," Ruiz said, adding the goods Costa Rica seeks to export to Nicaragua are perishable.
