Venezuela’s Chávez wants Internet regulated

CARACAS, Venezuela - Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez wants the Internet to be regulated and for authorities in his country to go after a news Web site he claims is publishing information that's not true. "The Internet can't be something free where anything can be done and said. No, every country has to impose its rules and regulations," he said. He said Venezuelan news site Noticiero Digital published an inaccurate report that several of his allies had been killed. Chávez told the country's attorney general to take action against the news outlet immediately. "This is a crime," he said. There was no immediate comment from the Web site, which is known for its critical reporting.
