Drinks

A drink is generally referred to as a liquid that is prepared for consumption by humans. There are many different types of drinks. The most common include soft drinks, vegetable and fruit juices, hot drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Water is one of the most common drinks. It is, however, not a beverage strictly speaking, as the word beverage usually refers to drinks that may contain water but are not pure water. Other common names for water include plain water, sky juice and mineral water among others.

Alcohol is a popular drink around the world, with the most common kind being beer. It is usually served in bars or pubs, but can be consumed at home or at social gatherings. Non alcoholic drinks, on the other hand, refer to drinks that do not contain alcohol, but can also refer to drinks that have an alcohol content of less than 0.5%.

Soft drinks refer to dinks that do not contain alcohol, including iced tea, sparkling water, fruit punch and lemonade among others. Other kinds of drinks include fruit juice, vegetable juice, and hot drinks such as tea, coffee, mocha, and cappuccino and so on.

Food

Food is usually consumed as a way of providing the human body with nutrition. Food primarily comes from plants and animals, and contains nutrients that are needed by the body such as proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. The main purpose of food for the human body is to stimulate growth, maintain life and provide the body with the energy needed to function.

There are other kinds of foods that do not necessarily come from plants or animals. There are certain kinds of fungi that are edible, with the most common being mushrooms. Ambient bacteria may also be used in the food preparation process for such things as pickled foods, cheese, yoghurt and leavened bread among others.

A lot of the food that we see today comes from animals, whether it is directly or indirectly. An example of food that directly comes from animals includes meat. Such foods as eggs, milk and honey do not come from animals, but indirectly.

There is also ideological, health, ethical, dietary or cultural reasons that might prevent some people from eating animal foods or animal products.

Food Ingredients

There are various ingredients that go into food, whether it is during food preparation, or for preservation among other things. Some of these ingredients have been seen to be harmful to one’s health, and it is important to educate yourself on these food ingredients that could prove to be harmful.

Some choices might also not be very healthy because of the food ingredients that go into them. One example is unrefined grains. A much healthier choice for pasta or bread, for example, is unrefined grains. Brown rice is also considered to be healthier and to contain more vitamins and fiber than consuming white rice.

Cooking food also requires you to be careful about the ingredients you use. A great choice is unsaturated fats for cooking food. This is a much healthier choice, and does not come with the health risks associated with consuming foods cooked in saturated fats. There are many more food ingredients that can prove to be detrimental to one’s health. It is very important to educate yourself on the food ingredients that may prove to be harmful to your health.
